Chesterfield Dog Trainer & Behaviourist

Terms & Conditions
1) Anyone booking 8 (16 sessions 40 weeks) sessions MUST use them within 20 weeks. I have had clients in the past who have thought they knew what they were doing and left large gaps between lessons, the result being the dog being taught wrong which then looked bad on me.

2) I will endeavor not to be late to any training session, however hold ups are sometimes unavoidable, this said, I have never been more than 15 minutes late yet and I expect the same.  I’ve waited 20 to 25 minutes for clients to turn up in the past, and they haven’t. So now I don't waste my time anymore, if you’re going to be late let me know; otherwise I’ll be gone after 15 minutes. If it happens three or more times you will be charged to cover diesel costs.

3)  I have the right to refuse any dog for training, without refund if it isn't fit to train, i.e. ill,  or if it is too hot for training, or even too cold or wet. Although you won't  get a refund, you will have the oppertunity to book another appointment.

4) Dogs that could bight either me or anyone else MUST be muzzled

5) Bitches in any stage of season are not allowed (rules 1 will be extended in this case)

6) All dogs MUST wear a collar, choke or 1/2 choke/check chains or collars are not alowed. All collars must have a name tag on them.

If your dog wears an harness he doesn't need a collar providing the tag is on the harness.

7) Your time includes set up time and time will start from where my van is parked  (I used to go to a park to train a dog that was 1/4 mile away and silly me ended up spending an hour a week with that dog because of the walking, yet he was only paying for 40 minutes!)

I Know My Job!
On a number of occasions clients have questioned me about things I have been telling them, the most common one is about treats.

I ask people to use good quality food, i.e. liver, heart, kidney, cheese, chicken, etc, and I tell them that there isn't any dog treats or dog food that will do the trick as good as the foods I've mentioned, yet they still bring dog biscuits each week!

Then they wonder why their dog isn't getting trained very easily!

Please use good quality food, it DOES make a difference.

Practice
Your dog won't learn stuff by having one 35 to 40 minute lesson once a week, neither will it really benefit you or your dog  to have more than one lesson a week as you need time to practice in between lessons.

It is important to practice everything we've gone through with your dog, you need at least 10 minutes every other day, and don't mix excersizes up, train one thing, break off and play for a couple of minutes then do something different and always finish on a good note.

If you get stuck or are unsure about anything, I'm only an email or a phone call away

Remember your dog is your best friend, do nice stuff for your best friend (let him use his brain and take a few good treats off you) and he'll do nice stuff for you (behave).

Tricks
Teaching your dog tricks might seem silly to a lot of people, but although the trick itself may in a lot of cases be useless and just for show, the fact that your dog is using and developing his brain is good, and it is fun, try doing a few tricks, you will be surprised on how much quicker your dog starts to resopond to general training if you do.
